Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users in Wordy Bunch. By using the app you agree that you will not choose a display name, or behave towards other players, in any way that is:

• offensive, obscene, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable;
• hateful, or that attacks or demeans anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other characteristic;
• harassing, bullying, threatening, or intended to upset another player;
• impersonating another person, a real organisation, or a member of the Wordy Bunch team;
• advertising, spam, or a link to anything outside the game;
• unlawful, or that encourages anyone else to break the law.

This applies to every part of the game where other players can see you, including leaderboards, multiplayer lobbies and rounds, results screens, spectating, friends lists, and word duels played through iMessage.

Your display name

You choose your own display name, and other players see it. Every name is checked automatically before it is saved — once on your device, and again on our servers, so the check cannot be skipped by a modified app. Names that fail the check are rejected.

No automatic filter is perfect. If a name gets through that should not have, we rely on players reporting it, and we act on those reports (see below). If we block a term after a name has already been created, every existing name containing it is renamed automatically.

Quick chat

Quick chat in multiplayer is a fixed list of phrases we wrote. You cannot type your own message, and you cannot send anything that is not on that list. The more boisterous phrases are available only in private rooms you set up with people you have invited, and are hidden entirely from games against random opponents.

Reporting objectionable content

You can report any player’s display name from inside the game:

• Tap any player — on a leaderboard, in a lobby, on a results screen, or in your friends list — to open their card.
• Tap the red ⚑ flag in the corner of that card.
• Choose a reason (offensive, impersonation, harassment, inappropriate, or other) and add a note if you want to.

You can also email us at [email protected] to report anything at all, including behaviour we have not thought of.

Our commitment: 24 hours

We review reports of objectionable content and act within 24 hours by removing the content and, where warranted, ejecting the user who supplied it.

In practice that means the offending name is blocked and the account holding it is renamed automatically wherever it appears, and a player who repeatedly or seriously breaches these terms loses access to online play.

Blocking another player

You do not have to wait for us. You can block any player yourself, at any time:

• Tap the player to open their card, then tap Block.
• From that moment you will not see their name on leaderboards, and you will not receive their quick-chat messages or friend requests.
• You can see and undo your blocks at any time in Settings → Visibility → Blocked players.

Reporting a name also hides that player from you straight away, without waiting for us to review the report.

Consequences of breaching these terms

If you breach these terms we may, depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before: reject or reset your display name; remove your scores from the leaderboards; suspend your access to online play; or permanently remove your access to online play. Serious or repeated breaches are dealt with at the top of that list, not the bottom. Where the law requires it, we will also report unlawful behaviour to the appropriate authorities.

Fair play

You agree not to cheat, use automated tools or modified clients to play, interfere with other players’ games, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to our servers. Scores obtained this way will be removed.

Your account and your data

You can play anonymously; you do not have to give us an email address. How we handle your information is set out in full in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. You can delete your profile and its data at any time from Settings → Delete my data, or follow the steps on our Account & data deletion page.

Purchases

Wordy Bunch is free to play. Optional in-app purchases (such as avatar packs) are sold and processed by the app store you downloaded the app from, under that store’s own terms. Refunds are handled by that store, not by us. Purchased items are a licence to use them within the game; they have no value outside it and cannot be exchanged for money.

Our content

The game, its artwork, its audio, its word lists, and the Wordy Bunch name and logo belong to Brainy Bunch Games Limited and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may play the game; you may not copy, sell, reverse-engineer, or redistribute it or its contents.

Availability

Wordy Bunch is an online game and we cannot promise it will always be available or uninterrupted. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we will give notice in-app of material changes where we reasonably can.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law of England and Wales. Subject to that, the game is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update the “Last updated” date above, and ask you to agree again in the app where the change is material.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
